Berlin's Bridges: Architecture on the Water

Berlin has over 1,700 bridges — more than any other European city. Some of them are true architectural masterpieces.
Oberbaumbrücke
The double-decker brick bridge between Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain is Berlin's most photographed structure. The U-Bahn runs on top, traffic passes below. Spectacularly illuminated in the evening.
Glienicker Brücke
The "Bridge of Spies" between Berlin and Potsdam, where spies were exchanged during the Cold War. The last exchange took place in 1986. Today it's a tranquil spot with views over the Havel.
Admiralbrücke — Kreuzberg
In summer, this becomes Berlin's largest open-air living room. On warm evenings, hundreds of people sit on the bridge, drinking beer and listening to street musicians.
